Parc des Sources and Hall of the Sources
At the heart of Vichy, the Parc des Sources spreads its paths beneath the great wrought-iron galleries of the Belle Époque. The Hall of the Sources gathers under one glass roof the fountains of the thermal waters, where you taste, glass after glass, the Grande Grille, Chomel and Célestins springs. An original date: you compare mineral flavours, laugh at the faces, take a loop under the galleries, and conversation flows on its own.
Opera, Rue de Paris and Saint-Blaise Church
The Vichy Opera House, inaugurated in 1901, boasts one of the finest Art Nouveau halls in France, behind the neo-classical façade of the Palais des Congrès. Around it, the mansions of Rue de Paris and refined boutiques recall the golden age of the spa. Saint-Blaise Church, both Romanesque and nineteen-thirties, surprises with its mix of styles. For an evening: a show at the opera, a dinner in a historic brasserie, and the night unfolds on its own.
Napoleon III Park and Lake Allier
The Napoleon III parks, created at the Emperor’s wish after his stays in Vichy, run along the river Allier and shelter sumptuous eclectic villas. Below, Lake Allier, formed by a dam, offers sailing, rowing and a summer beach. The waterside paths are made for cycling or walking as a couple. On Lyad, Vichy singles share their favourite walks; it is up to you to find someone to take the next deckchair under the lime trees with.
